Visiting
There are some things that will be helpful for you to be
aware of when visiting or attending activities. We adhere to the
Five
Precepts—to
refrain from killing, taking what is not given,
lying, sexual misconduct, and taking intoxicants. We
request that visitors please respect these precepts and
our basic rules, which are as follows:
1.
Refrain from any practices other than those of
the centre.
2.
Avoid talking loudly or unnecessarily so as not
to disturb others, and observe quiet times.
3.
Dress in a respectful manner and do not wear
short skirts or shorts, see-through or tight clothing.
Discreet, loose-fitting clothing and low-heeled shoes
are appropriate.
4.
Out of consideration for others, please do not use perfume
or scented lotions.
5. Do not
bring pets, meat, alcohol, tobacco, or recreational
drugs to the centre.
6.
The
customary way to greet people at the centre is to
hezang.
Place your hands together with palms and fingers
touching, slightly incline your head, and say "Amituofo."
If you are carrying things and your hands are full, you
may simply incline your head as you say "Amituofo."
